JAMAICA EDUCATION PROJECT (JEP)
The Government of Jamaica has received loan financing in the amount of US$30,000,000.00 from the World Bank towards the implementation of the Jamaica Education Project (JEP). The Project intends to apply part of the loan funds to the procurement of goods, works, non-consulting and consulting services under the various project components hereunder:
Component 1: Strengthening Teaching and Learning in Secondary Education
The GoJ has prioritized the improvement of learning outcomes through system-level interventions, including better teaching and learning in secondary education and the integration of STEAM approaches across subjects. These interventions will be supported through two subcomponents: (i) support to teaching in secondary education; and (ii) support to the articulation of flexible pathways and better use of learning assessments.
Component 2: Supporting Quality and Resilient School Infrastructure
This component aims to improve access to quality and resilient school infrastructure through the construction of one secondary STEM school.
Component 3: Strengthening Information Systems and Strategies for Student Retention
This component will support the development of an efficient information system to improve the overall management of the education sector and deploy targeted intervention strategies to support student retention, particularly at the secondary level. It will include two subcomponents: (i) Strengthening the Education Management Information System (EMIS) and (ii) Strengthening early warning systems and targeted interventions for student retention.
Component 4: Technical Assistance (TA), Strengthening Institutional Capacity, and Project Management
This component will provide TA on key aspects of the education system, strengthen institutional capacity, and support management of Project activities.
