JLS Summer Programme – Keep Reading Alive in 2025
The Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information, in collaboration with the Jamaica Library Service and its partners, invites children and families to participate in the 2025 JLS Summer Programme held under the theme, “Keep Reading Alive in 2025.”
Aligned with the Ministry’s literacy goals and the mission of the Jamaica Library Service, this summer initiative provides a dynamic and enriching space for students aged 4–14 years to enjoy interactive, educational, and creative activities at their local Parish or Branch Libraries.
We encourage parents, guardians, and school communities to support children in participating in this year’s Summer Programme, which will be hosted across various parishes according to the following schedule:
- July 14 – 25: Kingston & St. Andrew, Clarendon, St. James, Manchester, St. Elizabeth, Trelawny, Portland, St. Thomas, Hanover, and Westmoreland Parish Libraries
- July 21 – 31: St. Ann Parish Library
- August 11 – 22: St. Catherine Parish Library
Featured Activities Include:
- Reading Circle
- Author’s Corner
- Sports Day
- Music Sessions
- Art and Craft Workshops
- Think and Draw
- …and much more!
This exciting programme promises meaningful engagement designed to promote reading, creativity, and critical thinking while keeping the summer lively and purposeful.
Interested patrons are encouraged to contact their nearest Parish Library or the Jamaica Library Service Headquarters for further details on participation.
